Montivision Video Solution Configuration and Overview
The following outlines the Montivision Video solution with which DSI originally went to market.
For new systems that include video, Ponemah v5.20 with the Noldus Media Recorder is the recommended solution for IP, GigE, and Analog cameras.
However, video acquisition in Dataquest and Ponemah using the Axis P1353 and Axis M1145-L IP camera to collect from up to 4 sources at once does work. DSI no longer supports the Axis Video Server option, for analog camera compatibility (please see Background|Camera Obsolesces for more details).
Issues to note
- DSI’s video collection can only be done at 5 FPS using the standard .dll provided with Dataquest and Ponemah regardless of the chosen settings within the camera configuration dialog. We do have a .dll that will allow users to collect at 15 FPS and 30 FPS (zips attached). This is included on the Ponemah v5.20 installation DVD and can be requested from DSI Technical Support if required for previous Ponemah versions or Dataquest ART.
Note: the user has the option to select any FPS from within the configuration, but the actual sampled video file will be based on the .dll installed – the user will not be warned. - Dataquest A.R.T. v4.36 and Ponemah v5.20 solved the following error that would randomly occur.
Error with Video Camera [Camera Name]
Dead Camera - M1145-L requires special camera setting configuration.

Background
The following is some of the background information on the Montivision solution.
Original Support
DSI released its video solution in 2007:
- ART v4.1 – May
- Ponemah v4.7 – Sep
- NeuroScore v2.0 – Feb 2009
Axis and Sony network cameras/servers were originally supported:
- Axis 241Q video server – analog in
- Axis 211/221 network cameras
Number of cameras originally supported:
- ART – 4
- Ponemah – 8 (although using the same ART configuration)
- The recommendation changed to 4 at the beginning of 2012 (website)
Camera Obsolescence
- Axis 211/221 became obsolete in 2011
- Replaced by Axis P1343
- Axis 241Q server became obsolete in 2012
- Evaluation of replacement server was completed
- Replacement server configuration deviated from original DSI configuration process too much for an easy-to-use tech note
- Axis P1343 became obsolete in 2013
- Axis M1144-L became obsolete in 2016
