Ponemah shuts down without any warning or errors/popups
Symptoms
In Ponemah versions ≤6.30, there is potential that the program could close in the middle of collection. This is a bug related to the built-in process monitoring program. When this error occurs,Ponemah will silently close with no warning and no errors/popups. There are a couple logs that can be used to identify this issue.
- Windows Application log
The Windows Application log will contain 2 errors, one is a .NET error which causes the fault and the following is the Application error where Ponemah unexpected closes. - Ponemah log - The Ponemah log-file-ponemah.txt contains logs from the Ponemah program. In this log there will be an error logged at the time of the unexpected shutdown.
In both logs there is a line indicating the 'ProcessMonitor', which is the Ponemah monitor causing the crash.
Resolution
To correct this, the Process Monitor can be disabled. In Ponemah:
- Select Setup | Application Configuration menu.
- Select the Advanced tab and scroll down to the line near the bottom called SystemMonitor.Processes.Level.
- Set this value to 0.
- Select OK.
- Close Ponemah and reopen.
