Decontaminating Hardware
All products returned to DSI must be cleaned and decontaminated. Shipments that have not been cleaned and decontaminated will be charged a handling fee per item. These products are subject to transportation regulations as published by the US DOT or ICAO or your carrier. If the products are fully decontaminated, they may be exempt from part or all of the requirements (including packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation).
APR-1 / APR-2 / E2S-1
- DSI only recommends surface decontamination using disinfectant wipes. Any other decontamination process may damage your APR-1 and could potentially void its warranty.
Matrix 2.0 (MX2) / Communication Link Controller (CLC)
- MX2s/CLCs should be protected from excessive moisture, mechanical vibration, extreme temperatures, and animal damage.
- DSI only recommends surface decontamination using disinfectant wipes. Any other decontamination process may damage your MX2/CLC and could potentially void its warranty.
JET System
- The JET Device, Accessories (e.g. Lead Sets, Thermistor, Batteries, Charger), Add-Ons (e.g. Respiration, BP) and JET Receiver are somewhat water-resistant; however, they should not be directly exposed to water. Direct exposure to water may damage the electronics, making it unusable, and may void the warranty.
- DSI only recommends surface decontamination using disinfectant wipes. Any other decontamination process may damage your devices and could potentially void its warranty.
Computer
- Computers may occasionally require cleaning. Turn the computer off before performing these maintenance tasks. Ventilation slots and keyboards should be periodically cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, canned air, or a similar device to remove debris that can clog the keys and block the vents. The exterior may be wiped with a soft, damp cloth. Cleaning products may damage the finish of the computer- consult your computer's documentation before applying any cleaning products to the computer.
- DSI only recommends surface decontamination using disinfectant wipes. Any other decontamination process may damage your computer and could potentially void its warranty. For more specific information, please contact your institution's IT support staff or reference the care instructions in your computer documentation.
Small-Animal Receivers (RPC-1, RPC-2, RPC-3, and RSC-1)
- Small-animal receivers are not water-resistant and should not be directly exposed to water. Direct exposure to water may damage the electronics of the receiver, making it unusable, and may void the warranty.
- DSI only recommends surface decontamination using disinfectant wipes. Any other decontamination process may damage your receivers and could potentially void its warranty.
Large-Animal Receivers (TRX and RMC-1)
- The TRX and RMC-1 large-animal receivers are water resistant but not waterproof. They are not designed to be cleaned in cage washers, but will resist water from a direct spray. Large-animal receivers can be cleaned with mild detergent.
- DSI recommends using a brush to remove debris from the grooves on the back and sides of the large animal receivers.
- Connectors should be periodically inspected to prevent corrosion. If connectors are exposed to liquids on a regular basis, using a stream of air to thoroughly dry the inside of the connectors will slow corrosion.
- DSI only recommends surface decontamination using disinfectant wipes. Any other decontamination process may damage your receiver and could potentially void its warranty
Other Hardware
- DSI only recommends surface decontamination using disinfectant wipes for adapters, cables, power supplies, etc being careful not to soak the connectors.
- Use disinfectant wipes for the spine of the Dataquest A.R.T. PCI card (the silver part that's exposed when installed in the computer) being careful not to soak the connectors.
