Connector Types for CO2 Gas Tanks used with WBP Gas Studies
There are several types of gas tanks that can be purchased to be used with the Buxco WBP Gas Automation. These tanks come with different types of connectors and regulators. Gas pressure is typically measured using a pressure gauge connected to the gas tank. Pressure is controlled to 5 psi.
It is recommended to purchase gas tanks with a CGA-type connector. This connector works with most standard pressure regulators. A CGA fitting is a standardized system for the attachment of a compressed gas cylinder to the required regulator or transfer line. Examples of CGA fittings would be CGA-580 for Non-flammable, Non-oxidizing gasses such as Nitrogen, Argon, or Helium. So, what does a CGA 3-digit number mean? CGA valve outlet connections are identified by a 3-digit number relating to the rated or maximum cylinder pressure at which the connection is designated to be used, the gas type, and a designation of the valve outlet thread when applicable.
