Symptom

The error messages below are displayed when attempting to launch FinePointe software:

License: Expires in less than a day

Maintenance: Expires in less than a day

Solution

These errors are displayed in two situations:

1. The user had a temporary Fine Pointe license that already expired. A temporary Fine Pointe license  does not require a license dongle, but can be used only for a limited period of time.
2. The  user has a permanent Fine  Pointe  license  but the Fine Pointe license dongle is not inserted in the computer.

The Fine Pointe dongle has a green color (see photo below) to differentiate it from the standard USB flash drives that have a silver color are normally shipped with the Fine Pointe software .

If the FinePointe dongle is inserted in the computer and the errors persist, make sure that the USB slot is properly functioning, eventually use a different USB slot.

Observation

When only Maintenance: Expired is displayed, the FinePointe program can be launched normally.

This message is displayed to warn the user that the yearly hardware maintenance should be performed.
