Symptom

The error messages below are displayed when attempting to launch FinePointe software:

License: Expires in less than a day

Maintenance: Expires in less than a day

Solution

These errors are displayed in two situations:

1. The user had a temporary FinePointe license that had already expired. A temporary FinePointe license does not require a license dongle, but it can only be used for a limited period of time.
2. The user has a permanent FinePointe license, but the FinePointe license dongle is not inserted into the computer.

The FinePointe dongle has a green color (see photo below) to differentiate it from the standard USB flash drives that have a silver color and are normally shipped with the FinePointe software.

If the FinePointe dongle is inserted in the computer and the errors persist, make sure that the USB slot is properly functioning, eventually use a different USB slot.

Observation

When only Maintenance: Expired is displayed, the FinePointe program can be launched normally.

This message is displayed to warn the user that yearly hardware maintenance is required.
