Ponemah Data Reduction Standard Deviation Definitions
The SDev Samp and Sdev Est are selectable parameters available within Ponemah’s Data Reduction. The manual defines these as follows:
SDev Samp |
The Standard Deviation of the data between the last Monitoring Time and the current. |
Sdev Est |
The Standard Deviation estimate of the entire population of data between the last Monitoring Time and the current |
The mathematical difference is that Sdev Samp is divided by N, whereas Sdev Est is divided by N-1.
Data Reduction standard deviation Excel equivalents:
- SDev Samp matches STDEVP in Excel
- SDev Est matches STDEV in Excel
Note: The derived parameter Standard Deviation matches STDEVP in Excel.
