Background

This issue affects DSI Data Security Access Cards that were introduced starting with Ponemah v5.10. They have a solid DSI logo on a white background. 

Symptoms

When inserting a DSI Data Security Access Card, the following message appears:

"Please insert smart card."

Clicking the details button indicates the card is an "Unknown Card. A smart card was detected but is not the one required for the current operation. The smart card you are using may be missing required driver software or a required certificate."

Resolution

There is a Group Policy that disables Plug-n-Play for Smart Cards in Windows. With this feature disabled, the appropriate driver cannot be downloaded automatically from Windows Update.
