Rodent Perioperative Analgesia
Below are recommendations for rodent perioperative analgesia. Please consult your attending veterinarian before making any changes to your analgesic regimen.
Note!
Minor surgery refers to any procedure that does not require the opening of a major body cavity. Major surgery refers to any procedure that requires the opening of a body cavity, such as intraperitoneal device placement or performing a craniotomy.

· 2 mg/kg meloxicam (1:10 dilution) subcutaneously during surgical prep · 2 mg/kg meloxicam (1:10 dilution) subcutaneously 24 hours post-op |
· 2 mg/kg meloxicam (1:10 dilution) subcutaneously during surgical prep · 1 mg/kg Bupivacaine (1:10 dilution) splash block on abdominal wall incision (if applicable) · 2mg/kg meloxicam (1:10 dilution) subcutaneously every 24 hours for three days post-op |
