How to playback analog and IP camera video files collected from Ponemah - Noldus Media Recorder in NeuroScore
Background
The original NeuroScore v3.2.1 synchronized video playback implementation, when acquired using the Ponemah - Noldus Media Recorder solution, required installation of the K-Lite codec provided with the NeuroScore installation.
However, the K-Lite codec only allows playback of .avi files. This will allow playback of video data acquired from IP or GigE cameras, as Noldus Media Recorder v2.6 stores video as .avi. Should the user want to acquire video data using analog cameras, they will not be able to play them back in NeuroScore as Media Recorder store analog video as .mpg files.
The reason for the incompatibility is because 64 bit codecs are not provided along with Media Recorder v2.6. Both Noldus and Ponemah are 32 bit applications, while Neuroscore is a 64 bit application and requires 64 bit codecs.
Workaround
An alternate codec pack – LAVFilters (https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases/tag/0.68.1) addresses both .mpg and .avi files.
To update:
- Uninstall K-Lite codec pack
- Install LAVFilters-0.68.1-Installer.exe from (https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases/tag/0.68.1) with defaults which will include the LAV Splitter, Audio and Video decoders for x86 and x64
Note: The use of this codec pack has been informally tested.
