Vetbond Storage and Shelf-life
Vetbond(TM) Tissue Adhesive has a 18-24 month shelf life depending on how it is stored. It is recommended to store in a cool, dry place and to maintain product at room temperature. Once opened, it is recommended to use within 2 months.
The directions for Vetbond and the Application Tip Sheet both advise to "Clean the reusable plastic applicator tip by pushing air through the applicator using a standard empty syringe." This clears out the tip so it can be reused.
If this step is skipped, the Vetbond will dry inside the applicator tip, rendering it unusable. There is no way to remove the dried adhesive from the tip. At this point, the clinic/vet will need replacement tips.
Storage: Product can be refrigerated or frozen to extend shelf life before opening. Store bottle upright on shelf in a cool, dry place (away from heat). After opening, DO NOT RETURN BOTTLE TO REFRIGERATOR.
Instructions:
- Vetbond tissue adhesive must be at room temperature before use. Do not heat.
- Remove bottle cap. To open, cut off bottle tip with scissors or blade. Place flexible applicator tip on bottle.
- Vetbond adhesive may be used between stainless steel staples, but application of adhesive on staples may interfere with staple removal.
- When finished, remove excess adhesive in vial tip by holding bottle upright and gently squeeze single drop of adhesive out of tip onto a paper towel. Wipe bottle tip with same paper towel. Replace bottle cap. Expel adhesive from applicator tip by pushing air through it from a standard syringe.
